The Smashing Pumpkins - Discografia - Side Projects

The Smashing Pumpkins es un grupo musical estadounidense de rock alternativo, formado en Chicago, Illinois, en 1988. Tras disolverse el 2 de diciembre de 2000, la agrupación anunció por medio de su sitio web oficial, el 20 de abril de 2006, una reunión y la grabación de un nuevo álbum.
The Smashing Pumpkins estaba compuesto originalmente por Billy Corgan (guitarra y voz), James Iha (guitarra), D'arcy Wretzky (bajo) y Jimmy Chamberlin (batería).



En 1997 Jimmy Chamberlin abandonó la agrupación, siendo reemplazado por una serie de bateristas, entre los que se destacan a Matt Walker y Kenny Aronoff hasta su vuelta en 1998. En diciembre de 1999, D'arcy Wretzky abandonó el grupo tras la grabación de MACHINA/The Machines of God y fue reemplazada por Melissa Auf der Maur.



Billy Corgan y Jimmy Chamberlin son los únicos miembros originales que confirmaron su participación en la reunión del grupo. Por su parte, James Iha confirmó no ser parte de la reunión, en abril de 2007. Melissa Auf der Maur, si bien declaró estar interesada en participar, posteriormente sería descartada. La participación de D'arcy Wretzky no fue confirmada ni desmentida oficialmente, pese a su retiro musical.

Tras el primer concierto después de casi siete años, el grupo integró a Jeff Schroeder (guitarra) y Ginger Reyes (bajo) en su alineación, para la gira promocional del álbum Zeitgeist.
