The Tangent - Discografia

The Tangent originalmente era el proyecto de álbum solista de Andy Allison, pues se trataba de música demasiado "ligera" y luminosa, que resultaba inadecuada para la línea gótica y oscura de Parallel Or 90 Degrees, el grupo original de Andy. Con el tiempo, este proyecto resultó demasiado grande y ambicioso para manejarlo él solo y terminó por reunir a importantes representantes de tres décadas de rock progresivo: Roine Stolt, Jonas Reingold y Zoltan Czsorz (de The Flower Kings), Sam Baine (también de Parallel Or 90 Degrees), Guy Manning y David Jackson, el flautista/saxofonista de Van Der Graaf Generator. El proyecto que logró reunir a toda esta gente se llama "The Music that Died Alone", un álbum excepcional que resultó ser solamente el primero de varios más.

Con tantos genios a bordo, el simple hecho de lograr sacar al público un álbum ya es significativo, y por supuesto que generó expectativas muy amplias, mismas que fueron satisfechas. Logrando mantener un sonido de amplia calidad, este grupo se consagra como clásicos, pues la música de The Tangent no solo rescata la mejor tradición del rock progresivo de los años 70, sino que lo revisa y refresca con propuestas novedosas, al tiempo que conserva esos ingredientes que definieron al progresivo setentero. Canterbury, prog-sinfónico, buen humor y largas composiciones épicas son la base de la receta.
